SISJ FASHION: BUMP STYLING WITH PEA IN A POD MATERNITY >
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t look and feel stylish and sexy. If you are keen to maintain your stylish ways and show off that bump, it’s all about adapting your fave fashion trends to your new body. With bump in-tow or not, as women we still need to work, we love to shop and catch-up with our girlfriends. This can all be done throughout your pregnancy, while feeling fabulous and fashionable. Today on the blog I explore 100% Australian made, Pea in a Pod maternity. I have styled-up five fab aw15 looks to cover those before, during and after moments of pregnancy.
It is evident through their collections that the Pea in a Pod design team truly understand the needs of their customers. Their garments are well designed and the quality speaks for itself. While all pieces take into consideration a growing belly and the practical needs of pregnancy and nursing, they still tick all the style boxes. While there might be a little person growing inside our belly, we are still women of the world. We work, we shop, we lunch and we enjoy a dynamic lifestyle. Pea in a Pod offer a range that will compliment the women who can do it all – before, during and after bubs arrives.
SISJ BUMP STYLING TIPS >
SHOW SOME SKIN: Don’t be afraid to show off some skin during your pregnancy. For those of you who are normally small-chested, your increased cleavage and cup size should be something to celebrate! There are ways of doing this tastefully and stylishly – eg. with scoop-neck and sweetheart cut tops and dresses.
HUG THE BUMP: I am a big believer of embracing the bump and our new curves. Pregnancy is something to celebrate and believe it or not, it’s over before you know it. Obviously comfort is key when styling any wardrobe, but don’t be shy and opt for the oversize options every time (particularly in the second and early third trimester stages). Oversize (worn incorrectly) can actually make you look bigger and bulkier than you are, as well as hiding that gorgeous bump. Instead I like to idea of slimming down your silhouette and emphasising the bump with fitted dresses and tops/pants. The same rules apply during pregnancy as before, if you wear an oversize top/jumper, style it back with a jean or pant. A fitted top can also look amazing with a lose pair of pants or maxi skirt.
MY FAVE AW15 LOOKS THAT WILL FIT INTO YOUR LIFESTYLE:
LOOK ONE (BANNER IMAGE) > “One the Move” – I absolutely love this dress! As you know, I am all-about hugging the bump and showing off our mini-creations. This ponti dress is thick, extremely complementary and ideal for both casual and work wear. Whether you style it back with some ballet flats, some ankle boots (if you’re up to it!) or your fave Chucks – it’s a winner. OOTD: Ponti Faux Leather Dress $109.00
LOOK TWO (ABOVE) > “Leather & Luxe” – This outfit is on-trend, practical and so stylish. Leather-look highlights add sophistication and edge to any outfit. This outfit is ideal for pregnancy and breast-feeding, as I am wearing a nursing side gather top (opens up to bra ready to feed). While we all have our couch and trackies days, I love how comfortable I felt in this. A balanced look that is also ideal for casual or work wear. OOTD: Side Gather Nursing Singlet $55.00 //Faux Leather Maternity Pencil Skirt $79.00 (available April) // Ponti Faux Leather Maternity Coat $165.00 (available April)
LOOK THREE (BELOW)> “The Sarah O’Hare” – For some reason this top reminds me of Sarah back in the day – I just adore it! I am such a fan of chambray/denim and miss wearing it. It was great to find a top that not only looked good, but was practical for pregnancy and feeding too. The tie under the bust creates a beautiful silhouette and shows off the bump. The length (just over the bottom) is also very flattering and can be styled back with a pencil skirt, pants or jeans. This is ideal for the Sunday market, casual day wear and work. OOTD: Chambray Maternity Tie Shirt $119.00 // Ponti Faux Patch Maternity Legging $85.00
LOOK FOUR (BELOW) > “Furry & Fabulous” – It wouldn’t be me without some glam and faux-fur! Another pregnancy fave for me has been the bodycon style dress. I have definitely felt more conscious of my thighs/bottom area, so dresses and skirts have been the answer. This fau-fur vest is a winter staple and will last you a lifetime after your pregnancy/nursing. It makes all the difference to feel a little bit sexy and glamorous. This look can be worn with some cute ballet flats or some supportive ankle boots (if you’re in the third trimester like me!). OOTD: Knitted Fur Cardigan $159.00 // Maternity Ripple Tube Dress $145 (Donkey – available in April)
LOOK FIVE (BELOW) > “Date Night with the Baby Daddy!” – It’s important to feel good about yourself whether you are pregnant or not. If this means putting on a LBD for date night, then go for it I say! We’ve made a conscious effort to focus on that special alone (and quiet!) time that we have left, before bubs arrives. It’s also an excuse for a fab meal out! Don’t be afraid to show off your new curves in a bodycon dress – whether you dress it up or down. This is a wardrobe essential for AW, it’s comfortable and the ruching will flatter every bit of you. OOTD: Ruched Maternity Tube Dress $94.50
