“The details are not the details – they make the design” – Charles Eames. Like many things in life, it’s all about the little things. It’s those little things that are the attention to detail, that makes the bigger picture what it is. Whether it’s fashion and putting together an incredible outfit, interior styling or a beautiful piece of jewellery. When it comes to styling, I’ve always worked on the ‘work backwards’ method – both from a complete head-to-toe outfit and at home. Decide on your hero piece and style backwards in a complementary way. While I will go into this further in my blog post, today’s feature is also about two of my favourite pieces from the Michel Herbelin watch collection, and my very own (and exclusive!) competition!

Michel Herbelin is a luxurious and deliberately small-scale French watchmaking company that pride themselves on design, the highest of standards and embracing the purity and the traditional art that goes into watchmaking. While Michel Herbelin is a lesser-known brand at the moment in Australia, it’s hard to go past their designs. They are understated, yet sophisticated, elegant and rich in quality (much like a fine European wine!).

OUTFIT BREAKDOWN: I am wearing the Cables Watch in black and silver and the Dress Watch in silver and gold (this is also gooooorgeous in black and silver) + outfit photographed in. Also, on a side style note: I adore the Lyre men’s watch – maybe put this one on the Christmas list!

My favourite collection within the Michel Herbelin range is the Feminine Range for women. These designs epitomise French style and beautiful design. They range from elegant bangle watches (featured on me in my images), delicate bracelet versions and also a variety of strap models. I personally have always been a little conscious of my “athletic wrists”, as they were once described – I will put it down to playing a lot of tennis! So for me, when styling my wrists and fingers with jewellery or a watch, I want it to be simple, flattering and feminine. I like to style it back with a fine bracelet for an everyday look, and then maybe something a little bolder for a night out. While I’ve got some gorgeous chunkier watches, these often can irritate me after only a few hours. This collection is so, so versatile. While there are several variants available, they include an on-trend array of colour options (I personally love the gold and silver and then the black and silver), they are practical and wearable from AM – PM and can be dressed-up and down – this range really does tick all the boxes of what most women generally look for in a watch.
