“A RAINBOW BABY is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is still not dealing with the aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover, but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of colour, energy and hope” – Anonymous

Mill & Bakery (Atlantic Group) //

VENUE: On Sunday 19th August 2018 we celebrated the impending arrival of our little Froggy Boy, with a beautiful rainbow baby shower at Mill & Bakery. Mill & Bakery is set on the waterfront in Docklands and is part of Atlantic Group (also where we got married seven years ago!). The bakery venue is a vintage styled patisserie, bakehouse and kitchen where the walls are lined with heritage styled prints, artisan breads, take home products, pastries and cakes. It serves as a bakery open to the public 7 days a week, but also available for private venue hire. Not only did we get married in the Sumac venue at Atlantic Group, we also celebrated MG’s baby shower at Mill & Bakery on Valentine’s Day in 2015 – ANNNND, my little sister is getting married in Maia in March 2019! Yep, it’s become our go-to group for family celebrations! They are unrivalled for service, food and professionalism. Thank you to Jasmine, Vicki and the entire team who looked after us on the day x

PASTRY CHEF: The incredible Lisa Van Zanten – Executive Pastry Chef at Atlantic Group, once again created a beautiful array of sweet treats and cakes. We’ve been lucky enough to work with Lisa on several other celebrations (MG’s baby shower, MG’s second birthday) and now Froggy’s shower – finally something other than pink, ha! Lisa is a weapon and it’s always an exciting time seeing what sweet magic she creates for the special day! Thank you so much, Lisa. It was an honour to work with you and your team once again. See you in March!

THEME: I believe my exact words to Feri from Oh Feri Event Styling were: I want a rainbow theme, but still boy-ish and not like 4 year old girl Unicorn rainbow party”… HA! Super professional and detailed, right?! I clearly learned nothing during my three year bachelor degree in advertising! Nevertheless, she aced it! I loved the idea of a spearmint and peach colour theme, but obviously with a rainbow feature.

FLOWERS: Who else? DUH, Kate McLean from Mary Mary Studio – one of the best humans on the face of this earth. Kate and I connected just over four years ago when she first did MG’s baby shower florals. We worked out we both went to RMIT and studied the same course, one year apart. Kate went onto become a copywriter, but had the burning desire for something more and to exert her fabulously creative floral talents! LOVE YOU, GF!

STYLIST: Feri from Oh Feri Event Styling. I had been stalking, sorry… ‘following’ Feri on Instagram for some time and was so glad I FINALLY had an event I was incapable of styling – mentally and physically at 31 weeks pregnant, ha. Feri was an absolute pleasure to work with and just GSD. I find it very hard to relinquish control, especially where styling an event is concerned, but it was a breeze. I was struggling emotionally in the weeks leading-up to the shower, and she was such a wonderful support. Thank you so much darling! You did a gorgeous job and I look forward to working together again soon – maybe a little boy’s first birthday?! #hinthint

GRAPHIC ARTIST: Most of the old gang was back together from MG’s baby shower! Of course I used the amazing Lauren Skorsis from Lauren Skorsis Design to design all of our stationary, thank you cards and graphic styling on the day. It was really important to me that Charlotte’s memory was honoured, so I put together a couple of my favourite quotes that were spread around our central balloon rainbow for all to see and read. Thank you so much, Lauren. You just get me and my vision every single time – mwah!

In memory of our darling Charlotte Rose x
