SISJ PREGNANCY: TOM ORGANIC FOR MUMS & BUBS >
Today children we are going to learn about all-things organic – in specific, for our bits! This is a whole new world for me, so if you are like me, get your note book ready! While I will admit I am not totally ‘green/clean living’, I am very passionate about what I eat and also the products I use on/in my body. I have been a big fan of TOM Organic for some time now, previously using their pads and tampons. For me the decision to stick with TOM Organic from pregnancy to motherhood and beyond was easy. Read why…
Although I have not had any symptoms or signs of needing either of these yet, it’s good to be prepared. This doesn’t mean you can slack off with your pelvic floor exercises either ladies! I absolutely hate doing them, It makes me feel weird and wiggly! BUT… It’s for the greater good after the show is over.
ABOUT TOM ORGANIC:
TOM Organic are Australia’s leading organic feminine hygiene range, certified by the ACO (Australia Certified Organic), Australia’s largest certifier for organic and biodynamic products. By using TOM, you’re also doing great things for our planet. By following organic farming practices, we can help to prevent harmful pesticides from entering our environment and polluting the air, our waterways and the soil. After all, our planet is where we live, work and play so we need to protect it every way we can. Organic living is what we live and love; we believe in good health, quality products and sustainable practices that are good for everyone, from the farmer to your family. We strive to do our best for our planet and for future generations. We aim to enhance women’s lives for generations to come by exercising our ethical and social responsibility throughout the entire process from the farm right through to the way we operate our business.
ABOUT NURSING PADS & MATERNITY PADS:
Correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I know. Nursing pads help to absorb our milk that may leak between our bub’s feedings. They sit just inside your bra (kind of like those awesome ‘Chicken Fillets’ from back in the day!), keeping your bra and clothing dry. According to my research, you will need these most in the first few weeks and then just monitor as you go. I have heard some very funny stories about little leaks, so to be safe, I will be padded-up until I am sure, ha-ha. Ensure you change these breast pads promptly after they get wet.
Regarding maternity pads, you will need these directly after giving birth. These will reduce from every one-two hours, to every three hours or four hours over the next few days/weeks. It’s important to have these maternity pads ready to go at the hospital, rather than ordinary sanitary pads. Maternity pads are specially designed and will cater for exactly what is happening. They are longer, softer, and much more absorbent than regular pads. The reason you need to wear these pads is to absorb the bleeding from your uterus (womb), which will start soon after your baby is born. This will typically happen whether you’ve had a vaginal or caesarean birth – it’s perfectly normal, so don’t freak out at the blood/clots.
