SISJ WOMEN WHO INSPIRE – MY INTERVIEW WITH DANNII MINOGUE >
Today on the blog I am very excited to finally share my WOMEN WHO INSPIRE interview, with Dannii Minogue. I was lucky enough to chat with Dannii about her highly anticipated ‘Petites‘ collection, for Target.
While I have been a fan of Dannii Minogue since the days of “All I Wanna Do”, I now admire her for so many different reasons! Dannii is a mother, singer-songwriter, talent competition judge (X Factor), actress, television and radio personality, and now… fashion designer! Is there nothing this woman can’t do? What I admire most of all though, is her ability to juggle IT ALL. I am also so excited to share with you, an exclusive look at her gorgeous ‘Petites’ collection, that I was lucky enough to model last week in Melbourne (more pics coming soon!). Buckle-up ladies and get ready to do some serious shopping tomorrow, when these styles launch in Target! I hope you all enjoy today’s interview and a BIG thank you to Dannii herself, you are an inspiration to us all. SJ x
Q&A WITH DANNII MINOGUE FOR SISJ >
Tell us about The Dannii for Target Petites collection: I have designed all the pieces in the Petites collection with the Target team. It is so incredibly hard for a petite lady to find clothing that fits off the rack. I have taken inspiration from everything in my wardrobe, old and new – including all the modifications and alterations I have done. The idea was to bring a solution to petite women. My belief is that buying clothes should not confine petite ladies to shopping in kids stores, altering every item and spending loads of money.
Describe The Dannii for Target petites woman in three words: Smart. Elegant. Fun.
Tell us about your decision to stock exclusively through Target and what its brand means to you/the collection: Target is an iconic Australian brand that I have grown up with. I have not always had a lot of money to spend on clothing, so I love working with a company that appreciates value and good quality. Developing the Petites range with Target means I can achieve the best quality at prices that are unheard of. A lot of girls wanted to purchase my Project D label from London, but said the prices were out of their budget. Target is aligned with my kind of attention to detail, from finishes on the clothes to specially designed petite mannequins for in-store displays. The reach of their stores enables me to bring Petites to all of the country. With over 40% of the general population under 5’5”, we are very excited to be on the forefront of petites clothing in Australia.
What or who has been your main influence when designing this range, other than sizing? Most petite clothing available worldwide is pretty casual. I wanted to have clothes that were smart for casual/work/after5 and events.
What is it that motivates you to succeed each and every day? I get a buzz from what I do. I am so incredibly lucky to do what I love. I love fashion and entertainment and have been able to develop these from hobbies to a very satisfying career.
What has been your personal and career highlight so far? Ethan is my personal highlight. He is such a joy to be around. My career highlight was mentoring Dami Im last year on The X Factor – it is such a joy to see a talented, beautiful lady live her dream and to have helped her achieve that goal.
Has Ethan changed your perspective or philosophy on your work/career? Having Ethan has brought a balance to my work/life. I spend less time working and I have to be more efficient. It is always a challenge, but one that is exciting.
Dannii Minogue’s collection, ‘Petites’, launches online & in selected stores tomorrow, Thursday 7th August – stay tuned!
